Tired and day dreaming

I've been pretty tired this week.  We are three weeks into the new term and the first two weeks were quite full with Musical Practice and meetings.  All that to say, I now know why I have been dreaming about a few comforts.  One of the major things I miss is a good coffee shop.  When we are on break I get one good coffee shop day.  A day to sit, read or work, and soak in the atmosphere.  It's a change to  get a way from the day to day and relax without sitting on my couch.  There is something special about sitting at a coffee shop that I have been dreaming about this week.  Add meeting a friend for lunch or a hot beverage and I miss going out with friends too.

A few of us got together for pizza on Wednesday night and it hit be afterwards that we are all going home to our houses, which are within the same fenced in area.  It's pretty crazy that everything we do is with the same people we live with on our compound.

I know I've mentioned this before, but I miss driving to the grocery store.  Although it only takes about a half hour to walk down to the dukas for veggies and dry goods, the fact is, it's still a walk down the hill and back up with all my groceries.  I miss driving from door to door.  I was reading a little this evening and the character stopped at the grocery store on her way home from work.  That use to be a normal thing.  Oh well, maybe I'll get use to it next year, haha.

As I thought about the fact that I live on a compound there is an upside to being a 4 minute walk to work.  In that sense I don't mind not driving to and from my job.  But, the more I thought about it, it may only be 4 minutes to the music building, but its another 4 to the Titchie music room and another 4 to the staff room for meetings.  On one hand, I'm glad the campus is as big as it is, so we have space while living on an enclosed compound, on the other hand, it can be a trek from one building to the next.  At least I get 6,000 step in just going from one place to the next, that doesn't even count the walking I do while teaching.

So, after a week of dreaming about driving to the store, or sitting at a coffee shop, meeting someone for lunch that doesn't live within the same fence, I'm counting the days till I get to leave campus...8 more.  I'm hoping my homemade coffee and the Jr. Store Donuts can tide me over.  It's a good think I still have dark chocolate from the States.  I don't know what I'll do with that's all gone, haha.
