I was reminded, while reading the book Miraculous Movements, that Jesus set an example of going to whole families with the gospel.  There are countless accounts of His visiting the home of a family with a sick member and causing the whole family to marvel at His power.  I am reminded of the story of Jesus being passed by the funeral of a widows' only son. Jesus had compassion on her state and brought her son back to life showing His care for the whole family.

Although Jesus said the gospel would rip families apart, he still modeled going to whole families with the intention of bringing everyone in.  This is what my friend Vero does with members of her church. Each Saturday they visit the homes of the families of children in their Sunday School program to share a verse and the gospel.

I joined them for one such event.  The team was so excited about their encounters, sharing one story of how a women remembered what they had talked about the week before and asked questions.  The others had been challenged to pray for the family and time for which they would visit and saw fruit from their prayers.  Listening to these friends share I could not help but think - that is what filled with the Spirit looks like.

I am thankful for their vision for families and their commitment to following Jesus' example.  Oh that more would follow suit.
