Something New
Having enjoyed the musicals I was a part of in High School at Wheaton Academy and thoroughly enjoying musicals in general I was pretty excited to help put on a musical here at Rift Valley Academy. What I didn't know was what I was getting into.
How fitting that the musical we were working on expressed these very thoughts in it's opening songs. As the musical starts the kids sang the words, "I never believed in what I couldn't see, I never opened my heart to all the possibilities. Oh, I know something has changed, never felt this way, and right her tonight, this could be the start of something new..." For the directors, the kids in the musical and I these words echoed the adventure of working together on a musical, which none of had done in this capacity before. The words continued saying, "I know this year, that something has changed, never felt this way, I know it for real; This could be the start of something new...and now I can reach the skies, I feel in my heart the start of something new." We all experienced these very words as we worked together on something new - a musical, and by the end we saw felt like we could reach the skies as we completed such a huge undertaking with excellence.
As the 16 weeks of practice went on and we grew tired songs like, "Get your Head in the Game," and "We're all in this Together" became our mantras as we encouraged one another to keep at it.
Thanks for your support and prayers. As we told the kids..."All Glory to God for the great things He has done."

As directors we all joked that we would only do a musical every fours years because of all the work it took, but for the sake of the kids and the memories they have and the way they grew musically and artistically I am so glad we did it.
