The Great Commission
May is Musical month here at RVA. The fifth and six grade (Titchie) performed their musical for the church service last weekend and the High School is working on a musical for later in the term.
After working hard I rewarded the Titchies with an after party. It was fun to see them watch themselves and sing along to the music throughout the party. My favorite moment was hearing one kids say, "this is my favorite song," as "The Great Commission" came on screen. Working with missionary kids I'm not surprised that their favorite song talks about sharing Jesus with others.
How special for these kids to passionately words like, "from the heart of the city to the country side, 'cross the rivers and the oceans, in the jungle, He's Alive," because they live them. As a music teacher I love songs that stick with you and have a strong message. So, it thrills my heart when the kid's favorite song says, "Go into the world and tell everybody."
These kids aren't just away from their families to get a good education at a good boarding school. They feel the mission of their parents' and they know it's their mission too. Even more, they proclaim this mission to others. Can you hear the kids singing, "we are called to the great commission"?
I feel it regularly joining with the kids that I teach to pray for the un-reached. I hope you do too.
In other news, my biopsy bill is covered. Thank you for the tangible support in this way. It is a huge blessing. My flights are also covered and my parents were able to get tickets to come visit me at the end of the term. I am very thankful that they will be able to come see where I live and be a part of the end of the term. It will also be a huge help to have them here to help me move.
Along those same lines I am still praying for what God will have me do for furniture for next year.
Coming up:
The High School Musical will be performed the last weekend in June. It is a big undertaking, but so far I have been impressed with the student's work ethic.
July bring the Jazz Band Concert, 3rd Term Concert and Senior Graduation all of which are big performances for the choir. Pray especially for the small group songs the choir students are working on, largely on their own. Pray too for the seniors, some of them are leaving the only country they really know to live with people who may not understand their worldview. Graduation brings a lot of emotions for seniors in general and MKs have an added transition.
Safe travel for my parents
