God Provides
For the past 3 years God has provided me with furniture and kitchen items to use while serving in Africa. When I look back I marvel at God's work of love.
In Madagascar I bought my mattress, which I loved, and a few kitchen items to use when I wasn't eating with the Malagasy family I was living with. The desk, 2 chairs, book shelves and dresser that filled my room were donated to me by my leaders and the family I lived with. I in turn, donated everything back when I left, including the mattress I had purchased.
In preparation for coming to RVA I had lunch with a lady whose family was going on Home Assignment for a year. She amazingly came up with the idea for me to borrow her families furniture while they were gone. Again, I was outfitted with both the kitchen items and furniture I would need.
Eventually, I bought one set of silverware, a few plastic plates, bowls and cups, my very important popcorn makers and a side table. If you remember I also bought a water filter with your help and was again given a better mattress by another staff member when she heard mine was giving me a neck ache.
Now, my second year here at RVA God has provided me with furniture and kitchen items. I am currently living in the home of an older couple who are on home assignment this year.
As I look to next year I have been praying about what God wants to do about furniture for the coming year. He has already started to answer.
One of the families I hang out with a lot is moving to North Africa. They have donated a side-dresser and kitchen items that they could not sell.
My neighbor recently told me (out of the blue) that she is donating two twin beds with mattresses to me for next year.
She has also offered to sell me her fridge and washer for a low price. Similarly, one of the other families on campus, that are leaving at the end of this school year, sold me more needed kitchen items for a low price.
Looking ahead I am praying for a stove, a couch, a table, some chairs and a microwave (did I mention my first microwave on campus was donated by another family and so when I was going to borrow one from a different family this past year I gave the first one back for someone else to use - it's only fair).
Whatever God does will be amazing even if He says that I should rent these items from RVA for next year. Thanks for praying with me. God is good all the time.
