Time Off Campus
My neighbor (the kindergarten teacher this year) and I have been taking regular evening walks. It is such a blessing because for most of last year I prayer for a friend to walk with me. When she asked to walk last night, I came up with the idea to walk off campus. As we walked I remembered the gardens on lower station near the hospital, so we headed there. I had only ever seen the gardens from outside and never had the chance to actually go inside the gate - until last night.
The gardens were started by a former RVA staff member as a community project. Now it is run by Kenyans. When I noticed the door was open and the guard was still there we asked to enter. Since it was evening the guard was planning to lock up and go home, but he gave us a few minutes for pictures.
As I ran around taking pictures of the wonderful signs throughout the garden the guard helped me notice the green house and the bees all of which help the garden grow. We have been praying for rain for Kenya and it was a huge blessing to see how God is sustaining these gardens even in the midst of the heat.
We continued our walk to the Bible college a little further down and found their chapel (above). It was so much fun to get off campus, even if only for a half hour.
