In Times Like These - Choir Tour Devo
Another one of our choir songs is a combination of the hymn, "In Times Like These," with an special introduction. Check out this post for more fascination info about the hymns' composer Ruth Caye Jones.
The song opens by reminding us of the times we live in..."Wars, rumors of wars...nations shall rise against nation...famine..." All of which are straight from Scripture. Then, the song goes into what we need in times like these...
After reading through the lyrics of the hymn 4 words stuck out to me.
The first and third words are similar. Our Savior is also our Rock. The second and forth words are also similar. Our anchor is the Bible, but only after we have the Savior as our rock. An anchor can move if it's not hooked onto a rock, just as the Bible doesn't mean anything without Jesus.
So, "in times like these," we need Jesus and we need to spend time in God's word every day to anchor our lives so we are not tossed by the waves of "times like these."
