New Term Challenge
With the start of a new term I tend to come up with ideas of new things I want to try for the term. When things get busy these may go by the wayside, but it's fun to at least try to implement new things. Last term I decided to add dinners with my choir and so far that's going strong, so who knows.
1. As you already know I'm praying for 10 new Christians this term.
2. I am going to adopt a family to pray for regularly. Since I have 3 of their 6 kids and I know the parents I thought I would pray for the Andersons. I already do this somewhat during Dorm Cover each week, since one of their girls is in my dorm cover, but I hope to get their updates and pray even more. There are a lot of families I can pray for, but I picked the Andersons because I'm also friends with their parents. Don't worry, I still pray for my kids and their parents and their ministries regularly, but I thought it would be fun to follow one more closely.
Look for more in the future, but in the meantime you can check out their blog.
3. With this in mind I was thinking about also having the Anderson kids over for a meal once a month.
4. I also want to mentor again. Last year I had lunch with a group of girls on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was a little expensive and my schedule changed this year so I stopped, but I want to try doing one meal a week with a senior girl. I'm excited for our lunch this Friday.
5. I have had the idea to get the Mada MKs together for a meal since I first arrived here, but have never done it. Hopefully, this will be the term I get us all together for a meal of rice and rano-ampango.
6. I need to work on my Swahili some more. This is hard because I don't have the immersion like I did in Mada, but what helped then was listening to vocab more often. If I get even more serious I may even get a tutor. We'll see.
7. I'm also looking forward to focusing on Ethnomusicological in a some of my classes this term. I'm starting next week with my Titchies.
I figure 7 is enough for now, with everything else I know will come up this term. I'll keep you posted on how they go.
