First Full Week
It was nice to have the weekend, it gave me the feeling of a fresh start when Monday came for the first full week of the new term. With a full day ahead of me, I kept reminding myself it was just the first week. After Titchie Staff Prayer, Titchie Music set up, and Music 7 I was glad for my only long lunch of the week. We had fun in Music 5 and Music 6 learning about Ethnomusicology and practicing for Titchie Chapel. After a little office time I headed to choir and we made it through some songs and had a great time of devotions as we continue to prepare for tour. Even though I didn't make it through every song I wanted in choir I was please with the progress they made on one of the newer songs.
After our staff meeting I rushed home to finish dinner for the choir students coming over and by 5:30 we were at the table ready for tacos. We had a great meal together talking about spiritual warfare of all things and getting excited about tour. It was nice to have the seniors over as they reminisce about past tours and gave ideas for the upcoming tour. During the meal I even heard back from our overnight host location that we were a go, which allows me to start making arrangements for our performances.
The boys helped me clean up from dinner and then I was off to my voice lessons from 7-8:00. It was nice to finish at 8 and have the rest of the evening to relax watching "Numbers" and coloring of all things. After a full day it was nice to have a little down time before the new day of the first full week of term.
Highlights and surprises of the day:
I loved teaching about Ethnomusicology listening to worship songs written around the world.
Our first Titchie chapel practice was a bit of a struggle, but I'm glad for the kids and the opportunity to learn to lead together.
My house helper asked to coming clean my dishes during lunch on Mondays for a little extra cash. Although it was a little hard to have her cleaning while I ate I'm hoping it will be a good thing in the long run.
As I already mentioned choir went well, which is always a blessings and I'm looking forward to the rest of the week as we continue to role out more new songs and info for tour.
Dinner was fun and helpful with the senior's impute.
I wasn't planning on doing more than my two voice lessons this term, but I already have two boys asking for lessons. I'm trying to protect my time with tour planning and the musical practices coming up, but when I'm asked directly by kids who are really excited to take lessons it's hard to say no. We'll see how it goes.
