Traveling for Christmas - Sistine Chapel

Finally in the Sistine Chapel I was immediately struck by a sense of awe.  I took the time to admire the miraculous art on every surface since we couldn't take pictures, I wanted to remember everything.  I had prepared a Renaissance Mass to listen to, but unfortunately would not play, so I picked worship songs from my phone's playlist.  I wgas encouraged by how the Holy Spirit brought me through a beautiful worship service of art.  I listened to the song, "Beautiful Things," and I couldn't help but see God's heady work in Michaelangelo's artistic ability.

The thing that immediately stuck out was our the pictures, although 1D looked 3D and so lifelike.  I was in awe of how real each aspect looked, as if it was coming off the surface.  Even now it baffles me.  I took time to look at each scene individually, looking for details.  My favorite was Jesus' baptism because Michaelangelo included a depiction of God in the clouds.  It not only showed God's presence at Jesus' baptism, but it also showed God holding the world in his hand, which was perfect.

As I continued to take in the Biblical scenes I loved the extras that Michaelangelo added.  It made them so personal.  Finally moving into the last section God led me to the song, "All will fade away," playing in my headphones.

The moment of worship still brings tears to my eyes.  As I took in everything around me the words, "all of this will disappear, we are strangers here...we will see You face to face and all will fade away," was the perfect close to the beauty around me.

"There's no end of time with You, no treasure here compares."

Although I didn't get to listen to a Renaissance Mass as I had planned that was better.

"Caught up with you forever. In love with You my Jesus"
