Money Well Spent
Looking back on my first year at RVA I can truly say that we as staff are there for the students, our lives go beyond the classroom. Having lunch with the students in the cafo, hosting game nights in my home, hanging out in a dorm one night a week and having girls over for Sunday school are only a few ways I spend extra time showing the kids I care.
On its own these activities show that my mission at RVA is more than just teaching, but I got to thinking about what that looks like financially as well.
Part of my salary goes toward rent and normal food and living, but another part goes toward the kids and the national staff.
Twice a week I get to eat lunch with the kids in the Cafo. At $4.50 a meal that's about $40 a month.
Every Thursday I provide a snack for dorm cover at $5 a month
Sunday school breakfast is another $10 a month
A few times a month I have kids over on the weekends including food at $10
Once a month the Seniors put on concessions to raise money for their class which totals about $3 for a meal.
On top of "food with students" $22 goes towards supporting national staff with my indoor and outdoor workers.
That comes to about $90 a month going toward the kids and community at RVA. Just so you know, your money is being well spent.
