Kenyan National Anthem

It's fascinating that there is no pledge of allegiance in Kenya but rather a song.   I also love the fact that it is also a prayer.

Oh God, of all creation.
Bless this our land and nation.
Justice be our shield and defender.
May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty.
Plenty be found within our boarders. - English Translation

Line one reminds takes us back to Genesis and reminds us of God's nature as a creator.  It also reminds us of who we are in comparison.  We are His creation.  It reminds me of the first words of the Lord's Prayer - "Our Father, who art in heaven."  Both remind us of God's position above us.

Line 2, like the second line of the Lord's prayer, talks about God's kingdom on earth.

Lines  3 and 4 echo that of the third section in the Lord's prayer asking for forgiveness and safety from evil.

Line 5 goes back to the request in the Lord's prayer for our daily bread.

I love that Kenya looked to the Lord's prayer as a guide for it's national song.  I pray that the country will continue to represent Christian truth, but even more may they continue to look directly to God for their help.

If you were to write a song or mantra each day, what would it say?
