Kenya Bucket List

I've seen a few of the sights this past year, but there are still more that I would like to see here in Kenya.  Below is my list starting in order with what I have already done, leading to what I still hope to see.

1.  The Giraffe Orphanage was my first and likely my favorite experience.  I loved learning about the unique way God has created giraffes.

2.  The Elephant Orphanage was less fun, but still part of the list.

3.  The Tea Plantation - I loved visiting the tea plantation.  Owned by a white Kenyan family, a third-generation British immigrant, the plantation employs many nationals who pick the tea every other week.

4.  Kitengala Glass - Kenya blows it's own glass making beautiful dishware. I visited with some of the ladies over our first VAC.

5.  Mt. Longonot - The Rift Valley has several mountains, some of which can be seen from the RVA campus.  Mt. Longonot is a dormant volcano that rises to 9,000ft in the air.  It was a once in a life time experience to hike to the top.

6.  The Coast - Having lived on the east side of the Mozambique Channel while in Toliara, Madagascar, it was pretty cool to swim in the water on the western side of the Channel while spending my 33rd birthday in Diani, Kenya.

7. Crescent Island - Known as the walking safari, Crescent Island juts out into Lake Nakuru.  Now a conservancy the Island was used to film the movie "Out of Africa."  The animals that now live on the island where brought for the movie.

8.  Browns Cheese Factory offers the chance to eat cheese made in Kenya.

9. Hell's Gate is a crater between Mt. Longonot and Lake Nakuru.

10.  The Equator runs through Kenya a few hours north of RVA.

11.  Kazuri Beads are made from clay here in Kenya and then painted by hand.
