Diani - The Coast of Kenya

Looking back to Easter weekend and my birthday spent at Diani beach on the coast of Kenya. I was amazed at the deal I got that made it affordable.  It was a nice way to spend Easter, especially since my closest RVA friends were all on vacation as well.  Since, I couldn't be with family or close friends, it was nice to enjoy a quiet time away from campus.

I've been on the eastern side of the Mozambique channel living on the coast of Madagascar in Toliara. Now I've been on the western side of the Mozambique channel.

I stayed at Papillion Reef Hotel,
which had a pool and wonderful dining area for all our meals

It was wonderful sit near the water and read

These are the same kind of boats they use in Mada.

I never get tired of a good sunset

All our meals where included and the food was good.
I was amazed at what a deal it was.

I checked out and spent the day at a cafe reading
while I waited to head to the airport.  It was pretty hot out.

My trip home turned out to be an adventure when out plane never came.
37 of us where bused 1.5 hours north to catch our plane in Mombasa.
It's amazing how quickly a group of people can bond over our mutual diversion.
There were a few single ladies and some families from a rival school to talk to on our trip.
I was glad for my accompanist who talked me through what to do over the phone.
It turns out another RVA family had the same thing happen to them a few weeks before.
