Tour Testimonies

In preparation for choir tour I asked the choir members to write out their testimonies  Although, not every student will share their testimony during the concerts, I explained that it's good practice to write down their stories.  I was honored to read their words as each and every student laid their hearts out on paper.  They didn't hold back, but instead were very real in their writing, sharing struggles and victories.

It was hard to read some of their struggles as missionary kids, moving to a new place, feeling alone, and then coming to RVA and missing their families, but in each story God showed His love to each kid and encouraged them and they praised Him for how they saw Him take care of their lives.

What hit me was how God used RVA and it's Christian community to shape the faith of each student. Many said they knew God before coming to the school, but really made their faith their own because of something they heard in chapel, in a sermon on campus, or were challenged by a teacher.  I was awestruck to realized that God is using RVA to bring so many kids to Himself.

In the past, I have thought of my work at RVA as a supportive role to missions, helping God's work on the field by providing a good education for the children of missionaries on the front lines.  Yet, as I saw the impact of RVA on the kids and the way that God is using the school to grow the faith of so many of the students, I realized that I am on the front lines too.  What an honor to be a part of God's plan for bring so many children and young adults to faith in Him and then growing their trust in Him.
