the How
It’s fascinating, I have had to wait on the Lord a few times
in my life. As I have waited for His
plan to unfold this time I can’t help thinking of the verse about waiting. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be
strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord.”
It’s fascinating because being strong and taking heart are the opposite
of what I want to do when I have to wait.
Waiting makes me feel weak and helpless.
But, that’s where the Holy Spirit comes in. I can’t help but thing of the verse that
says, “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power” (Eph 6:10), emphasis on
THE LORD. As I have recited the verse
from Psalm to myself the last few days, I have asked God “how do I wait, what
can I do while I wait,” because in my mind being strong and taking heart are
too passive J. I need a task. He reminded me of the story of Mary and
Martha and said, “be with Me like Mary.”
This was a little easier for me, it’s more of a task, but I still wanted
to know how. It was yesterday that He
said, “pray.” Now that’s a task I know
how to do. So, I began to ask Him what I
was to pray for. It has been amazing to
see the prayers that were right in front of me here at Mayfield. As I eat meal after meal with traveling
missionaries I hear of prayer requests and needs all over Africa. This is where you all come in. My hope is to share these requests as I set out
to praying for them myself. I hope you
will pray with me so that we may unit as God’s army of believers.
Waiting isn’t a weak action. We can have strength as we wait,
and God is showing me HOW He will make me strong as I wait on Him. He is giving me the strength to continue to
spend time with Him - for His glory - to grow my strength in Him, and to lift
others up, as I pray!!!!
Look for the heading “Prayers from Mayfield” as I add prayer
requests in the next few weeks.
