Kenyan Worship Service Wk 2 - Church Under a Tree
I had the opportunity to attend a Shade Tree Church this Sunday. Sitting with the pastor before the service drinking Chi he shared his heart with us. This church is the daughter church of the service I attended last week. The tree was donated by the amazing women below back in August, so this is a very young church. Having obtained the tree the pastor did door to door evangelism in the surrounding community followed up by a revival meeting under the tree. Out of that the church was born.
The land below will be where they will build the new church building when God provides the finances.
It was exciting to see the heart of an African for church planting and for transformational development within his culture. As we drank our chi the pastor shared about the difficult traditions associated with the cultural ceremonies around circumcision, which is done for both boys and girls (if you don't know about the female version it would be worth your time to look it up). He shared that many children are fed Satanic words during the ceremony and as a result they are never the same, often dropping out of church attendance and loosing their appetite for school as a result. The pastor expressed his desire to see the traditions around this ceremony change toward a more glorifying experience. Please pray toward this end.
