Bon jure

I bought a ring before church on Sunday because I had noticed that with Lacey's ring she got fewer marriage requests than I did during our language walks. Of course,  my family noticed my new ring and one evening my Malagasy brother-in-law asked me about it. We all had a good laugh about my not being married but wanting to wear a ring so people think I am.

In any case, it is quite an experience walking around here. If it weren't apparent enough that I stick out, because of my white skin, you would know I am not from here by the constant cries of "faza" (foreigner) everywhere I go. I think its kinda funny that they want to point it out as if it wasn't already obvious, but it's also a way to get my attention, that and yelling "bon jure," to which I now reply, "hello" hoping they will get that I am not French, since "salama" (their hello) wasn't working and only brought more French on their part.

All in all, if you want to feel good about yourself, walk down the street here where the men whistle at you and all the kids yell a greeting.
