Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!

When you think of Africa you think of the "Big 5" animals.  The Big 5 are the Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino.  I like to add the Zebra and the Giraffe too.  

But, did you know non of those animals are native to Madagascar?    

If you have seen the movie Madagascar you know that it does have Leamors and the mean Fusa.

What you may not know is that it also has some amazing bugs and reptiles.  

For example, did you know that the snakes in Madagascar are not poisonous?  

They are also home to tons of alligators 

Madagascar also has the biggest cockroaches in the world

   

 And the locust can be destructive and tasty

Got to love scorpions, 

and apparently putting them in your mouth puts them to sleep, 

just so long as you don't get stung first

Check out your local zoo to see if you can find any of Madagascar's amazing animals.
