Traveling for Christmas Day 2 - December 23rd
After taking turns sleeping in the airport we finally boarded our second plane from Qatar to Rome. Once we disembarked and found some Euro we bought tickets to the city.
I wish I could say I enjoyed the tram ride but I was too tired. It was then an adventure to follow the map with our heavy luggage to find out Airbnb.
Along the journey I was excited to use our verbal and non-verbal skills to buy groceries and even get instructions for "our apartment."
After getting a few snacks for the next day we found a great pizzeria for dinner. With a pub feel and Christmas decor everywhere we were seated by a window to watch the city as we ate our first "Italian Pizza."
Although I didn't feel the best it was still a quintessential first night in Italy as we laughed at the Italian waiters and chowed down on our cheesy pizza watching the city life walk by. Looking back this was one of my favorite experiences of the trip with it's quaint authenticity.
