What's Old is New Again

I am a vintage girl.  I have mentioned before that I love going to Antique Shops.  If I posted all my vintage we would be here for a while.  Instead, I will regularly feature a Vintage store.  One of my favorites is the Antiques of Winfield.  As they say, it's one of my favorite haunts.  They have the best prices and I have gotten some great pieces there.  They also have coffee, tea, hot coco and cookies.  My most recent finds include:

While in Nebraska visiting my best friend I found some great shops.  They have a total hipster feel there.  Their antique shops are a little like some one's garage but I managed to come away with a necklace and an inspired dress.  I felt like I could meet the president in this dress.

I would add the following pieces including the necklace from Antiques of Windfield and the vintage earrings I found for free.

Now, I can't leave without adding a great refashion and this weeks features buttons.  While obsessing over fabric I decided I could be thrifty with buttons.  Take the blue buttons above or the cream from the Resale Collection and add backs using beading glue and you end up with new earrings for less than you can buy at a store and one of a kind.

Step 1:  Choose your buttons.  I like the ones without wholes.
I feel like they are the most like jewelry.

Step 2:  Using scissors, clippers, or the cutting tool of your choice, remove the threading portion from the back of the button.  If you don't get it all you can file them down.

Step 3:  Using bead or metal glue attach the earring posts from your local craft store.
(Make sure to keep your fingers clear of the glue - it is toxic.  Also, make sure to let them set over night before attaching the backs)

Some of my favorite earrings include:

The bigger buttons make great rings.

Follow the step above.  Replace the earring backs with a ring back, found at your local crafting store:

The leather buttons also make for great rings:

Another great way to use buttons includes adding bobby pins.  For this I like to use the buttons with the thread wholes.

Step 1:  Make sure the buttons are going in the direction you want.

Step 2:  Add the glue in a strip on the back of each button

Step 3:  Add the bobby pins and let them sit overnight.

Here are a few examples:
